Collette Butler was born and raised in Philadelphia, living in West Philadelphia as a child, and has been residing in the Mt. Airy section for the last 15 years. Collette was raised by her parents, Arnold and Delores Foster with the understanding that it” takes a village to raise a child”. Family is central in her life. Collette is the proud grandmother (BeBe) of 10 amazing grandchildren from ages 2 – 20.
Collette graduated from Overbrook High School, and attended Temple University where she received her bachelor’s degree in Social Work and African-American Studies. She then went on to LaSalle University earning a master’s degree in Education.
In her professional life, Collette has been working with youth for over 25 years. She began serving as an English and Social Studies Teacher with Community Education Partners. From there she worked with Communities In Schools, working as the Site Director at the Performance Learning Center, an alternative high school. In 2019, Collette began working with the City of Philadelphia’s Community School Strategy as the Community School Coordinator at Logan Elementary School. In 2021, Collette moved into the role of a Community School Manager, supervising five Community School Coordinators at five schools located in the West, Southwest, and South Philadelphia sections of the city.
In her personal life, Collette worked with a non-profit organization located in West Philadelphia called Teenagers In Charge. She is currently working with another non-profit in the Logan section of Philadelphia called Bringing Everybody Together (B.E.T)
Collette Butler accepted Christ in 1998 at Enon Tabernacle Baptist Church under the pastoral leadership of Dr. Alyn Waller. Collette is an active member of the Enon congregation having served as a Congregational Care Giver, and currently serving on the choir.
Collette’s passionate about engaging our youth to ensure that as many children as possible have the opportunity to experience the love of Christ and the “village experience”.
